Dear Colleagues,

The year 2019 marks the centenary of IUBS. IUBS has had glorious 100 years: full of landmark contributions to research in biology at large and its application of science of biology for agriculture, medicine, conservation of biodiversity and for sustainable development. On this special occasion, we will have a full afternoon of plenary sessions under the theme “A Century of Unifying Biology” on 30^th July, followed by reflections on the history of IUBS. We will look back on the accomplishments and, at the same time, look forward to the future strategies to fulfill the vision of IUBS. On 31^st July and 1^st August various IUBS activities will be presented in parallel sessions. Biologists from everywhere and every disciplines are welcome to attend. We strongly encourage their participation and their contribution to the various scientific sessions.

None of what IUBS has achieved was not possible without the generous, enthusiastic and dedicated support of all our Members.

I am looking forward to seeing you in Oslo for the centenary celebration of our Union.
